What we do
We aim to deliver the simplest way to produce an Airtightness Certificate for new build properties seeking a completion certificate. Every new buikd property is required to produce this under Part L of building regulations.
We use the parameters of your building from house plans and cross sections. We then use Retrotec blower door technology to calculate the air permeability of your property which can then be sent to building control as part of the completion certificate.
How do I get my certificate?
Booking
Choose a time and date on the section below for your test and include your mileage from the drop down menu. Fill in the form with your details. You can add your floor plans and cross sections or email them at another time. We will need these before we can conduct the test.
Customer Requirements
In order to perform an airtightness test we need to calculate the floor area and volume of your building. We calculate this from architect plans and cross sections. Attaching these documents to the booking form or an email is the simplest way for us to achieve this. We can take physical measurements on the day for an additional fee. The house must be in a complete finished state and no one will be allowed to enter or leave the property during the test.
FAQS
What is a finished state?
We measure the internal envelope of the building. All windows, doors, skirting boards and vents must be installed. Furniture, painting etc is not necessary.
How long will it take to produce my certificate?
We produce certificates on the same day. Certificates are released on payment of the final bill.
What if my property fails the test?
A property may fail if built incorrectly, although this is extremely rare. We will offer guidance as to where air leakages are occurring. A re-booking fee with 20% discount will be offered for further testing. We recommend you are certain your property is in a finished state.
How do I calculate the mileage?
Using google maps, through this external link and enter your property postcode. Use the drop down menu to choose the mileage required.
